Château de la Chèvre d'Or
A medieval eagle's-nest village turned into a hotel, 400 metres above the Mediterranean between Nice and Monaco. The rooms are scattered through the cobbled streets of Èze, and the two-Michelin-star restaurant sits at its highest point. A Relais & Châteaux since 1953.
Why we chose it
The whole village is essentially the hotel. As the property grew, it absorbed the surrounding houses, so the 45 rooms are woven through the medieval streets rather than stacked in a building. Walking from your room to dinner means walking through a thousand-year-old cliffside village with the Mediterranean 400 metres below. Nowhere else on the Riviera feels like this.
The view
From the terraced restaurants and the two pools cut into the hillside, the view runs from Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat across to Cannes. It is the single most dramatic outlook in the portfolio, and it is hard for a leadership team to think small with that in front of them.
The table
Four restaurants, anchored by the two-Michelin-star La Chèvre d'Or at the summit. Long dinners here are where the real conversations land, and the setting does most of the work before anyone has said anything.
The pace
The village fills with day visitors and empties again by evening. We work around that rhythm - mornings and evenings on the property when Èze belongs to the guests, afternoons for the coast, Monaco, or the water. By nightfall the streets are quiet and effectively yours.
